Ms. Amy Ivory, Principal

Ms. Amy Ivory will return to Edward E. Drew, Jr. Middle School, where she previously served as Assistant Principal for six years. Currently, Ms. Ivory serves as Assistant Principal at Stafford High School, a role she has held since 2016. Prior to entering administration, Ms. Ivory taught math and language arts at the middle school level in both Stafford as well as Spotsylvania County Schools for 13 years, and has regularly been turned to by administrators as an instructional model for teachers at the middle school level.

As Assistant Principal at both Drew Middle and Stafford High School, Ms. Ivory served as a Special Education designee to ensure special education students received appropriate services to support their growth. At Stafford High, she also oversaw the High Riser program for rising freshman to support a successful start to high school, and helped to launch the Jostens Renaissance program at the school to support stronger connections among students and staff.

Mrs. Ashley Dwyer, Assistant Principal

As a Teacher and an Educational Leader, Ashley Dwyer has served as a Special Education teacher, who taught secondary English 9-12 for the last 15 years at Stafford High School. She has also served as a diagnostician and a designee to ensure special education students received appropriate services to support their growth. She also worked as a 504 coordinator to support general education students in developing curriculum and instructional strategies that develop lesson plans to create a learning environment conducive for students with 504s and IEPs at the high school level.  At Stafford High, she also oversaw the High Riser program for rising freshman to support a successful start to high school, and helped with the launch of Restorative Justice Program at the school to support stronger connections among students and staff. She has worked with collaborative PLC learning teams to increase student achievement in secondary English.  She has served on various committees such as:  National Honor Society, Literacy Committee, ESOL textbook committee and District Leadership Team.

Mr. Shamus Gordon, Assistant Principal

Mr. Gordon has served as a social studies teacher, where he served as a grade level team lead, 504 designee, mentor teacher, and club sponsor. Prior to joining Stafford, Mr. Gordon was the International Baccalaureate and site testing coordinator for James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg after serving as an IB and AP Spanish teacher at the school for eight years. Mr. Gordon’s first teaching role was as a middle school Spanish teacher in Iowa, which he began after serving in the United States Army for eight years.

Mr. Gordon lives in Fredericksburg with his wife Kim, two daughters, Tierney and Brenna, and his dog Angus.  In his free time, he likes to workout, scuba dive, surf, and climb.
