Ms. Amy Ivory, Principal
Ms. Amy Ivory will return to Edward E. Drew, Jr. Middle School, where she previously served as Assistant Principal for six years. Currently, Ms. Ivory serves as Assistant Principal at Stafford High School, a role she has held since 2016. Prior to entering administration, Ms. Ivory taught math and language arts at the middle school level in both Stafford as well as Spotsylvania County Schools for 13 years, and has regularly been turned to by administrators as an instructional model for teachers at the middle school level.
As Assistant Principal at both Drew Middle and Stafford High School, Ms. Ivory served as a Special Education designee to ensure special education students received appropriate services to support their growth. At Stafford High, she also oversaw the High Riser program for rising freshman to support a successful start to high school, and helped to launch the Jostens Renaissance program at the school to support stronger connections among students and staff.
Mrs. Ashley Dwyer, Assistant Principal
As a Teacher and an Educational Leader, Ashley Dwyer has served as a Special Education teacher, who taught secondary English 9-12 for the last 15 years at Stafford High School. She has also served as a diagnostician and a designee to ensure special education students received appropriate services to support their growth. She also worked as a 504 coordinator to support general education students in developing curriculum and instructional strategies that develop lesson plans to create a learning environment conducive for students with 504s and IEPs at the high school level. At Stafford High, she also oversaw the High Riser program for rising freshman to support a successful start to high school, and helped with the launch of Restorative Justice Program at the school to support stronger connections among students and staff. She has worked with collaborative PLC learning teams to increase student achievement in secondary English. She has served on various committees such as: National Honor Society, Literacy Committee, ESOL textbook committee and District Leadership Team.
Mr. Joshua Justus, Assistant Principal
Mr. Joshua Justus joins Edward E. Drew, Jr. Middle School as Assistant Principal, bringing extensive experience in school leadership, student services, and career readiness programming. He held administrative roles in Stafford as well as Athletics Director and Dean of Students in both Chesterfield County and Henrico County Public Schools.
Throughout his career, Mr. Justus has been committed to supporting student success through strong relationships, high expectations, and expanded opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. He has led efforts to develop career pathways and work-based learning experiences for students and has served as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) administrator, supporting programs that resulted in high levels of student engagement in real-world learning experiences.
Mr. Justus earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Radford University and a Master of Science degree in Leadership Education from Salem International University.
Mr. Justus is excited to join the Drew Middle School community and looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to support a positive school culture where every student is challenged, supported, and prepared for future success.
Dr. Bert Jacoby, Dean
Dr. Jacoby started his career in education in Fredericksburg City Public Schools in August 2006 as a third grade teacher at Lafayette Upper Elementary School. After moving to Charlottesville, he taught preservice teachers at the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond. He returned to K-12 schools as a Learning Technology Integrator in Albemarle County Public Schools at the high school and elementary school level. He transitioned into the central office in an administrative role in the Department of Technology, focusing on project management, digital equity and learning. In 2021, he returned to Fredericksburg City Public Schools as an Instructional Technology Coach, where he worked at the preschool, elementary and middle school levels. He is excited to return to Stafford County Public Schools, having graduated from Stafford High School.
Dr. Jacoby is a graduate of The College of William & Mary, earning his Bachelors of Arts in Classical Civilizations and his Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. He earned his Doctorate of Education at the University of Virginia, and completed his administrative endorsement in 2022.
Dr. Jacoby is married to a fellow educator in Stafford County Public Schools, and their four children all attend Stafford Schools.
